Firefox 3 Official and installing Flashtracer…

So, Firefox 3 was officially released today! If you havent gotten your sweaty palms on a copy then go get it now. The main point of this post though is to help people who have been using the (awesome) extension “Flashtracer” in prior versions of Firefox and have had the extension disabled after installing version 3. I guess the most current version of Flashtracer hasnt been updated on Mozilla’s site or whatever but if you go here and do the download, you can install it and have it running in your brand-spanking-new Firefox! Hope that helps!

    after downloading the newest version of flashtracer from:
    http://www.sephiroth.it/firefox/flashtracer/

    in flashplayer 10 you need to create a file named mm.cfg in folder:
    WIN XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\

    copy the next 2 lines to mm.cfg
    ErrorReportingEnable=1
    TraceOutputFileEnable=1

    now the flashlog.txt file will be created on next start of firefox 3 automatically

    hope that helps!

    For me it doesn’t seem to be working! :(

    @Josh – Good point. I’ve also noticed that sometimes manually creating the ‘flashlog.txt’ file can help to get things rolling if it doesn’t ‘just work’. Another good thing to point out here is that you can also configure where the flash logs are dumped … for example in your ‘mm.cfg’ you can define a custom location using:

    TraceOutPutFileName=/path/to/your/flashlog.txt

    Also, ‘mm.cfg’ on OS X should be created in your users home directory. For example:
    $ /Users/{yourusername}/mm.cfg

    This does not work, any solutions?

    @Json – Can you tell me some specifics on what isn’t working? Have you confirmed that you are running the Flash Debug player (go here: http://playerversion.com/ )?
