Flash Player 9.0.115 is available!

The once code-named “Movie Star” update to Flash Player 9 is Adobe’s third for this version and is out for grabs on their site. Go get that shit!: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Also, you will want to check out the Adobe release notes!! Very sick enhancements indeed… http://tinyurl.com/38du52

Among those in the list I’m very excited to see some hardware acceleration and multi-core capability! This means video, bitmaps, vectors and filters (like those created in Hydra :) ) will be optimized and rendered faster. According to Adobe some of the enhancement in this area is with full-screened video and bitmap down-scaling.

Another exciting item that was added is the flash caching (or flex component caching). This setting stores a local cache of frequently used Flex components that can then be re-used among other SWF files from any domain. Another great way to reduce swf download sizes!

One topic that I’m still reading up on is the new security settings. It looks like you can now log the errors generated by your policy-files. This means our cross-domain policy files will most likely need updated. An in depth look at how Flash now uses “meta-policies” is worth reading. Take a few minutes to read-up here: http://tinyurl.com/3xfus9

Have fun!
